This is a rosé-style one that's made out of Merlot grapes. This type features a dark purple skin but has a creamy white flesh. While it is a white wine it has a slight pink tint to it which is unlike many other cépages

How It's Made

To make White Merlot, winemakers take the raisins, crush them, and then put everything into a cask. After waiting for a few hours they then filter the skins out to prevent the grape skins from turning the wine a dark purple color before everything starts to ferment.

If summer had a flavor it would be White Merlot. It's slightly dry yet rich and fruity making it the perfect glass for almost any meal. It's often described to be a swirling mixture of honey, cherries, and raspberries. It can be served at room temperature, but chilling it for a bit before drinking is known to bring out even more fruity notes in it.

Meals to Pair it With

While some wines only pair well with certain types of dishes, White Merlot is a delicious type that goes well with many. Better yet, it's a very inexpensive wine so you can invest in a bit of it to try with various meals.

  • Pasta

White Merlot goes very well with pasta, especially if it's covered in a warm tomato sauce. This is due to the alcohol's slightly dry yet sugary tang that mixes well with the acidity of the tomatoes.

  • Seafood

Some wines can ruin the delicate piquancy of seafood, but not this one. White Merlot's light texture helps to bring out the seasonings of it even more and can even be used in sauces for it.

  • Meat

Meat, like veal and beef, often pairs very well with White Merlot. After eating some of it, washing it down with this beverage will give it a nice crisp finish.

  • Smoked Cheese

White Merlot gives a great contrast to smoked cheese. This means it can work well with fondue

  • Yogurt

Surprisingly, White Merlot adds a beautiful touch of sweetness to yogurt. Add some fruit and granola to the yogurt and after eating it drink a glass of this chilled to add a nice finishing touch.

White Merlot is gaining in popularity and you can usually find it sold all over Paris so if you visit the city you'll be sure to find a delicious bottle of it. It doesn't matter if you're a wine connoisseur or just someone who's looking for a new type to try, White Merlot will leave you both amazed
